A Study of shadow & light
A drop that is about to be separated from the pouring container is the analogy for this lamp. Using an origami technique and developing it further to achieve the desired form, a new material is created. This material consists of several thousand triangular facets connected to a thin white fabric.
After manipulating this material to assume the shape of a drop, a light source (four strips of LED band) is placed into the volume. The multiple LEDs create a fine grid of light on the walls and radial beams on the ceiling.

This series of hanging lamps is the product of a joint thesis at the Hochschule RheinMain in the area of interior design.
Here, the projected shadows and lighting effects are the actual focus. They interact with the space surrounding them, painting landscapes on walls, the ceiling and floor.
The shapes of the lamps are developed from a sequence of motions chosen from the baking process.
Five possible steps within this process were captured as photos, these were analyzed, abstracted and interpreted into lamps.
The mixing of ingredients, pouring of dough from a container, accidental burning in the oven, subsequent removal of the burnt spots and final frosting became a family of lamps:
MIX, POUR, BURN, SCRAPE and FROST.
